One of these days Anderson will truly love a comic book movie, and I’m betting that flick might be Logan. I gave it four and a half stars on this week’s show, as Logan and X:Men: First Class are my favorites of the lot. The Soundcloud version of this week’s episode is available after the jump!
We start off the program with Anderson giving an update on his feature directing debut Groupers. He recently had his first table read with the cast of his film, and they’re getting ever so close to starting production on the flick. It’s been a long time coming, as most of you know, for Anderson, and finally all that blood, sweat, tears, and passion is paying off!!
I’m glad Anderson checked out the first 20 minutes of Lavender, as the opening moments of this Abbie Cornish headlined thriller is definitely eye-catching and audacious. Though I wanted a bit more depth with Cornish’s character (she plays a photographer named Jane), especially when it came to her relationship with her family, I enjoyed Lavender for its visual set pieces. The movie also stars Justin Long as the doctor who helps Cornish’s character retrieve her dark memories, with Dermot Mulroney playing Jane’s stoic uncle.
I loved Logan and I’m sticking to my absolute adoration for the project, even if Anderson consistently refers to Hugh Jackman as “mutton chops.” I’m hoping he loses the bet and will have to check it out for The Film Vault. I should have given much more love to Dafne Keen, the little girl in the flick – she almost steals the entire show from Jackman. Again – even if you don’t love X-Men movies or the previous two Wolverine outings, Logan might be your cup of tea!!
As usual, the most passionate part of the segment comes from Anderson Cowan. I’m not being modest about things – just stating the facts. When he goes all in for a movie – he simply doesn’t let up and he also gets me excited to actually watch the movie! During the show we extol the virtues of director Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces, The Grey) and Cowan dives into Carnahan’s flick Stretch!!

Unlike Anderson, I’m a pretty lonely dude and I love hearing from fellow CinemAddicts!! Thoughts on the show, movies in general, or whatever are welcome below! Have a great rest of the week!!
